Hata Ramune Soda

ハタ ラムネですよ

A refreshing soda, somewhat similar lemonade or cider, ramune was introduced to Japan in the mid 1800s and has been a popular and nostalgic summertime drink ever since. Instead of a screw top or cap, the bottle is sealed using the original method of ビー玉 (‘biidama’) - a marble lodged in the thinned neck part of the bottle during production that is opened via the method illustrated below:

1. Remove the plastic seal on the cap.
2. Remove the ring part of the marble pusher.
3. Put the pusher into the mouth of the container and push down until the marble drops
4. Hold the pusher firmly by hand for about 5 to 6 seconds until the carbon dioxide gas settles down.
5. After the carbon dioxide has settled down, remove the pusher and drink.
