Sakura Box Dagashi Assortment Index 2026

Sakura Box currently offers three main dagashi assortment sizes: 30, 40, and 50 pieces. Our item-level review of the current S26 manifests found that these are nested assortment tiers: the 30-piece box forms the core, the 40-piece box adds 10 products, and the 50-piece box adds another 10.

The Sakura Box Dagashi Assortment Index 2026 documents those 50 counted products, their box membership, broad snack format, and taste profile. It is designed for customers, writers, and researchers who want a transparent view of how our current assortments are structured.

This is a first-party study of Sakura Box’s current assortments, not a survey of every dagashi product sold in Japan. Availability and substitutions can change.

Key findings

• The three assortment tiers contain 50 unique counted products in total, not 120 unique products.
• The 30 core products appear in all three box sizes.
• The 40-piece box adds 10 products to the 30-piece assortment.
• The 50-piece box adds 10 more products to the 40-piece assortment.
• Products classified as primarily sweet account for 22 of 30, 29 of 40, and 37 of 50 counted products.
• Savory products increase from 5 in the 30-piece box to 8 in the 50-piece box. Mixed taste profiles are reported separately.

How the assortment tiers build on one another

The lists describe the current S26 source manifests checked for this index. Similar products may be substituted when availability changes, so the exact box received can vary.

Taste profile by box size

“Sweet” means that the official product description and primary flavor present the product mainly as a sweet snack. Mixed profiles remain separate: for example, a sweet soy rice cracker is not silently grouped with either plain candy or a fully savory cracker.

What changes as the box gets larger?

The main difference is broader format coverage rather than a completely different base assortment.

The 40-piece tier adds products such as a chocolate biscuit, additional ramune candy, a black-sugar baked confection, a potato snack, a marshmallow, and another rice cracker. The 50-piece tier adds a bottled ramune drink, a chocolate pie, a cracker mix, a vegetable puffed snack, another mochi product, and additional chocolate and ramune formats.

This means the larger boxes preserve the same 30-product foundation while expanding the number of textures and formats customers can try.

How the 2026 index was compiled

We checked the live Sakura Box product records and linked S26 product-information manifests for the 30-, 40-, and 50-piece boxes on August 27, 2026.

For each listed product, we recorded:

1. Its order in the live source manifest.
2. Whether it appears in the 30-, 40-, and 50-piece tiers.
3. Its snack format.
4. Its primary taste and flavor based on the official product-information description.
5. Its individual Sakura Box product-information URL.
6. The evidence used to verify the row.

The 40-piece list was independently cross-checked against the current 40 Box S26 English booklet. The booklet contains 40 numbered descriptions that agree with the 40 products on the live manifest.

We did not identify products from overlapping assortment photographs. Photography was treated as supporting context, not as a packing manifest.

Treatment of rotating bonus gifts

The live 50-piece information page contains a link to Omni Sauce because it was previously supplied as a free bonus gift. Sakura Box retains that guide so customers who received the sauce can identify it and learn how to use it. At the time of this August 2026 review, the rotating bonus was a gacha toy.

Bonus gifts are separate from the 50 advertised snacks. The Omni Sauce source row is preserved in the audit dataset for transparency, but it—and the current gacha-toy bonus—are excluded from all product-count, overlap, category, and taste calculations in this index.

What this index does not claim

This dataset does not measure the entire Japanese dagashi market, rank Japan’s most popular snacks, or estimate national flavor preferences.

It also does not promise that every future box will contain the exact products listed above. Dagashi availability changes, and the current 50-piece page states that approximately 5–10% of the snacks may be replaced with similar items while the total count remains 50. Customers should check the current product page and the packages received for the latest contents, ingredients, and allergen information.

Manufacturer shares are intentionally excluded from this edition. Manufacturer attribution will only be published after each row has been verified against an authoritative manufacturer or packaging source.

Frequently asked questions

Do the three box sizes contain completely different assortments?

No. The current S26 manifests are nested. The 30 products form the core of all three sizes, the 40-piece box adds 10 products, and the 50-piece box adds another 10.

Are there 120 unique products across the three boxes?

No. Adding the advertised box counts gives 120 listed units, but the same core products appear in multiple tiers. The reconciled manifests contain 50 unique counted products in total.

Are bonus gifts counted among the 50 products?

No. Rotating bonus gifts are additional to the advertised 50 snacks. Omni Sauce was a previous bonus, while the bonus at the time of this August 2026 review was a gacha toy. Neither is included in the 50-product analysis.

Are the listed products always guaranteed?

The manifests document the current S26 assortment, but availability can change and similar items may be substituted. The advertised unit count remains the relevant box-size guarantee.

How often will the index be updated?

We plan to refresh it alongside the main seasonal assortment cycle, which is typically updated about every six months.
